Please note, certain sections of cover do not apply to weddings taking place outside the United Kingdom and in addition the standard policy does not provide cover for any travel related circumstances that may affect your wedding abroad. Please refer to the full policy terms and conditions for further information on what is and is not covered.
Optional Wedding Abroad Extension
You also have the option to select our Optional Wedding Abroad Extension. This optional section of cover is new and exclusive to Wedinsure and provides additional cover for certain travel related risks and circumstances that could affect your wedding abroad including missed departure, abandonment and ceremonial attire in transit.
The overseas wedding extension provides cover for the following (Please refer to the full policy terms and conditions to see what is and is not covered):
- Missed Departure - If you are unable to reach the point of international departure of your pre-booked travel itinerary for your initial outward journey from the UK as a direct result of one of the covered perils outlined in the policy wording then we will pay you £2,500 for reasonable additional accomodation (room only) and travel expenses necessarily incurred in reaching your wedding destination abroad.
- Abandonment - Cover under Part 1 - Cancellation (Section 1, Cancellation,
Curtailment and Rearrangement) is extended to cover cancellation of your wedding abroad if the departure of
the
scheduled public transport on which you are booked to travel to reach your wedding abroad is delayed at the
final departure point from the United Kingdom for at least 72 hours from the scheduled time of departure,
and
there are no alternative transport options available due to the following:
- strike or industrial action; or
- adverse weather conditions; or
- mechanical breakdown of or a technical fault occuring in the scheduled public transport on which you are booked to travel.
- Ceremonial Attire - Cover under Section 3 - Cerermonial Attire, is extended to cover the accidental loss of, theft of or damage to your ceremonial attire caused whilst in transit to your wedding abroad.
Please note, this policy does not replace the need to purchase a specialist travel insurance policy, which provides additional cover and protection for travel and accomodation costs and medical expenses if you were to fall ill or have an accident whilst abroad.
