Wedding Wellness: Self-Care Amidst the Madness.

Wedding Wellness: Self-Care Amidst the Madness.

Created on: 24/02/2024
Updated on: 24/02/2024

Planning a wedding is, of course, exciting, but it can also be incredibly stressful. And so between the whirlwind of appointments, decisions and celebrations, make sure you find time for a little TLC. After all, a clear mind, healthy body and happy soul are essential ingredients for the perfect wedding.

Here’s some tips from our experts on how to put YOU first during the wedding planning madness.

Mindfulness:

Mental Health Practices: Incorporate short meditation sessions, deep breathing exercises, or reflective journaling into your daily routine. These practices not only help with stress but also help keep a positive mindset.

Setting Realistic Expectations: The anticipation of the big day often comes with high expectations. While it's natural to want everything to be perfect, setting realistic expectations is crucial to managing stress levels. Keep communications lines open, not just with your partner, but also with family and vendors too, as this creates a supportive environment where everyone is on the same page.

Beauty Routines:

Skincare Rituals: OK, so you have your tried and tested daily skincare routine, but ahead of the big day, think about extra hydration and skin nourishment. Don’t underestimate the toll that planning a wedding can take on your skin!

Healthy Eating Habits: We all know that beauty starts from within but it’s easy to forget a good, well-balanced meal when you’re in the thick of planning. Think about meal planning or bulk / pre-meal preparation to avoid the rushed, grab what you can, meal!

Physical Wellness:

Regular Exercise: Another one that may end up being de-prioritised as you try to fit everything in. Regular exercise is not only good for your physical health but also serves as a powerful stress-reliever.

Sleep: Quality sleep is a cornerstone of well-being. Focus on creating a routine that helps manage any stress related to tasks, decisions or meetings. Keep a diary or use apps to help keep track of progress. These things will also help with relaxing your mind.

Mind-Body Connection:

Holistic Practices: Aromatherapy, massages, or acupuncture sessions offer moments of peace and perhaps a welcome escape from all the ‘madness’. Relax and enjoy the moment!

Quality Time Together: A really important one! Make sure to find quality time with your partner, whether it's a cozy date night or a weekend getaway. You don’t want to lose sight of why you’re doing all this!

Managing Wedding Stress:

Delegating Tasks: While it's tempting to take on every detail yourself, remember to use your support system. Delegate tasks to friends, family, or a wedding planner. This not only lightens your load but also allows others to be part of your journey too.

Taking Breaks: Schedule short getaways or time away to switch off. Even a break to go for a walk in the park or a coffee stop at the local cafe can give your mind time to unwind. Wedding planning has to take a back seat sometimes to allow for a bit of R&R.

On The Wedding Day Itself:

Morning Rituals: On the morning of your wedding, kick things off with a quiet moment of meditation, or a soothing bath. Starting the day with a bit of quiet reflection will prepare you for the day ahead.

Designated Time-Outs: Throughout the wedding day, take moments to escape and find a quiet corner to breathe, reflect, and take it all in. Things can, and will, get overwhelming and so time to re-centre will be welcome relief and ensure you can go back with renewed energy.

No-one expects wedding planning to be a breeze but make sure that the journey to your big day is as wonderful as the day itself by prioritising self-care and taking the time to reflect and recharge your mind, body and soul.

Happy couple
